Frequently Asked Questions

Who is RSF?
RSF is a consolidated group of charities dedicated to a more sustainable world. Inspired by the insights of the Austrian social philosopher Rudolf Steiner, RSF is proud to present Spirit - The Seventh Fire because the underlying message of belonging spans all cultures and epochs and offers a framework for developing effective solutions to the most pressing problems of the modern day.

Are my gifts tax deductible?
Yes. The Spirit Fund is a fund of RSF, which is tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. All donations to the Spirit Fund are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. You will receive a tax receipt letter from RSF, and your credit card statement will show RSF as the recipient of your contribution made through the Spirit - The Seventh Fire website.

How will my gift be used?
Your gift is being accepted by RSF as an unrestricted gift to the Spirit Fund. In conjunction with Spirit - The Seventh Fire, RSF has established a Spirit Fund Advisory Committee that will make nonbinding recommendations as to the distribution of funds over time. In general, gifts to the Spirit Fund will be used to help underwrite the costs of offering Spirit - The Seventh Fire during the course of its international tour. This includes:

  • free performances to underprivileged children
  • educational and cultural programming in The Lodge
  • local charitable grants to non-profit organizations that exemplify the values of Spirit - The Seventh Fire.
  • general operations support for cast and crew.

Upon completion of the tour, remaining proceeds will be granted to non-profit organizations that use native wisdom to address modern concerns. These include tribal activities throughout the world and other activities that are not explicitly focused on indigenous people but are consistent with the values of Native Wisdom.

For tax and accounting reasons, RSF must retain the final discretion as to the disposition of donations to the Spirit Fund, but RSF stands ready to follow the recommendations of the Spirit Fund Advisory Committee, consistent with RSF¹s granting criteria and subject to completion of its due diligence. At the completion of each granting cycle (usually one-year), these organizations must report to RSF on their use of the grant, to ensure that the funds are used as RSF and the Spirit Fund Advisory Committee intended.

How much of my donation will go to charity?
At least 90¢ of every dollar received goes directly toward the charitable activities of the Spirit Fund. RSF deducts 5% of every donation to cover its administrative expenses associated with both Spirit - The Seventh Fire and the Spirit Fund. Additionally, credit card companies typically deducted between 2-5% for their services in processing payments.

What is RSF's Privacy Policy?
RSF has a strict privacy policy. We will not give away, rent or sell our mailing list to other organizations. We will not provide your contact information to any organization(s) that receive grants from the Spirit Fund. Our privacy policy is available on our website (www.rsfsocialfinance.org).

Is your website secure?
Yes. When you make a donation to the Spirit Fund at RSF on our website, the transaction is processed using Authorize.Net. You will notice that a lock sign will appear at the bottom of your browser, indicating that the credit card and personal information you are providing is secure.

Does the Spirit Fund accept grant proposals from other non-profit organizations?
We currently do not accept proposals. Our process is to carefully research non-profit organizations through our Spirit Fund Advisory Committee. At such time as we are in a position to receive proposals, we will post a procedure on this website.
